Chamber Golf Outing a Hole-in-One

BY THOMAS SANTUCCI

QUEENS CHAMBER CHAIR

On September 24, the Queens Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Golf Outing at Garden City Country Club. With over 130 people in attendance, 23 foursomes, and 30 sponsor organizations, the event was a great success.

It was a pleasure seeing so many of our members, friends, and colleagues on this annual occasion. Thank you so much to all our sponsors, specifically St. John’s Episcopal Hospital for taking the Masters Sponsorship, as well as DY Realty Services.

I would also like to thank Flushing Bank for donating their $2,000 prize money from the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival to the Queens Chamber of Commerce Foundation. This money goes directly to education scholarships to deserving students across the borough.

Further, we were beyond delighted to have Congressman Joe Crowley as our special honoree. Having known Congressman Crowley for over 30 years, I can say with no reservation that this man personifies the hard work and dedication of the diverse constituency of Queens.

A native of Woodside and lifelong New Yorker, Joe has served the people of Queens in Congress since 1998. Before being elected to Congress, he received a bachelor’s degree from Queens College, helped operate a family-owned business, and represented the 30th Assembly District in the New York State legislature.

Throughout his career in public service, Joe has been driven by a desire to protect New York’s middle class. As a close friend and ally of the Queens Chamber, we thank you for your service to the country and to Queens.

Finally, as we move into fall I want to urge our members to take advantage of all benefits and services offered by the Queens Chamber. It is imperative to be proactive in reaching out to Chamber staff to ensure you are kept apprised of upcoming events, development strategies, and business information.

Thanks again for being a member or supporter of the Queens Chamber of Commerce.
