Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Rockaway Beach) completed a 2017 National Early Learning Fellowship with the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), a national nonprofit that helps legislators across all 50 states share best policies and practices, and advocates for state legislative issues on the national level.
Pheffer Amato was chosen as one of about three dozen legislators considered issue experts or up-and-coming leaders from across the country in a competitive application process.
“The main takeaway is that, the earlier you start investing in our children, the better the outcomes, and that applies to workforce development, social services and even a substantial reduction in incarceration,” said Pheffer Amato. ““When you give kids the best shot to learn, they take it. School really is the best investment we can make in our future.”
