Summertime with the Queens Chamber

BY THOMAS GRECH

Summer 2019 is in full swing; the sun is beaming bright and the Queens Chamber of Commerce is as active as ever.

Since January we’ve hosted 66 events, one being an intimate group of seven who attended our initial “First Wednesday: Coffee, Commerce and Connections” event last month.

Not only was it educational, but it left those in the room evaluating how they approach labor laws. All of our events include three simple elements outlined in our by-laws from our fouding in 1911: educate, advocate and network.

Our calendar this month is equally filled with a diverse selection of opportunities to connect you to other Queens Chamber and future members.

Breakfast Speed Networking is back. When the idea to host our first one came a few months ago, I thought “speed networking?” It’s networking on steroids. It’s fast, quick and you’re guaranteed to walk away with 20 new contacts.

We set sail on our Annual Summer Boat Cruise this month. On July 17, we depart from World’s Fair Marina for a three-hour tour that will include a DJ, great food, open bar, prize giveaways and, of course, networking.

It’s a wonderful evening of entertainment, fun, and cruising the waters off New York City.

July closes out with a seminar entitled “Balancing the Competing Demands of Work and Life,” which will assist you in finding flexibility, both personally and professionally.

Aside from numerous events to get you involved, we have nine industry volunteer member committees ranging from Manufacturing to Healthcare & Wellness.

They are aimed at keeping you on the cutting edge of our ever-changing borough and providing an opportunity for you to volunteer by lending your industry knowledge to relevant subject matter.

There’s no better way to spend your summer than with Queens Chamber of Commerce. Our staff works tirelessly to ensure we’re providing programming designed to add value to your business, regardless of its size.

As you can see there’s something for everyone. If you’re a current member, thank you for your continued support. To our future members, there’s no better time to get connected.
