Back in the NY Groove

BY THOMAS GRECH

CEO & PRESIDENT

I’ve been a fan of music for all of my life, from my early teens to adulthood.. Various songs evoke wonderful memories of special times. In mid-May, the Queens Chamber launched a weekly program via Facebook LIVE.

“Taking Care of Business” is a 30-minute broadcast that gives voice to individuals in our community, many of which are members making a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hook to this song comes to mind when I think about the resilience of New Yorkers and the bravery of our small business owners, who are challenged with finding ways to keep their ventures operating.

Last month, the Chamber began recognizing organizations throughout Queens we call “Businesses of the Week.” These businesses, selected by our staff, represent the ground swell of dedicated individuals committed to making a difference during these challenging times.

As we move ever closer to the city re-opening for business, the Chamber is ramping up and continuing to provide necessary resources to prepare owners and employees for what will be a “new normal” in our workspaces and communities.

Our organization’s COVID-19 link on our website is regularly updated with the latest information on webinars, grants and loans, restaurant services, and office hours for elected officials, to name a few resources.

We’ll certainly look back over these past several months years from now and share stories about how we coped while the city was on pause. One thing you can bet on, Queens is definitely back in the New York groove.

I’m honored to work diligently on your behalf as president of the Queens Chamber. We’re in this together, and I look forward to that time when we can all be united again.

Thank you for your continued support of the Chamber. Stay safe!
